Center for Law and Education Offers Assistance on a Fee-for-Service
Basis
Much of CLE's assistance to others is supported by funds from particular
sources. (See "With Thanks.") This includes, for example, our
foundation- and Department of Education-funded project work, assistance
to member offices of the National Association of Protection and Advocacy
Systems, assistance to Massachusetts poverty-law attorneys through the Massachusetts
Legal Assistance Corporation, and member services for those who have joined
our Community Action for Public Schools.
When CLE's help is requested for work beyond the levels that these funds
can support or for work outside the areas designated by those funding sources,
we provide help, as availability permits, on a fee-for-service basis. This
includes, for example, other legal assistance generally in an 'of counsel'
capacity to attorneys representing students in matters pertaining to obtaining
quality education and improved educational outcomes. Assistance may also
be provided in cases raising significant legal issues affecting the civil
rights of students from low-income families. In addition, CLE attorneys
are available to provide training to attorneys, parents and/or educators
about the right of all students to participate in all programs and to attain
high standards.
Requests for training can be made by calling CLE at (617)-451-0855 or
(202) 986-3000. Requests for legal assistance can be addressed more expeditiously
if the request is in writing and includes factual information, as relevant
and necessary, and identifies the particular legal issue(s) for which assistance
is sought. Contact CLE by sending your correspondence to: Paul Weckstein,
Center for Law and Education, 1875 Connecticut Avenue, Suite 510, Washington,
DC 20009 or Kathleen Boundy, Center for Law and Education, 37 Temple Place, suite 303, Boston, MA 02111.
